My name is Michele Vela. I am 21 years old and live in Houston TX. My passion for music began when I was a child. I can't say that I was the best little singer in the world, but I loved to sing either way.

 

My idol off the back was Madonna. I would completely lose myself while I sung and danced along to the waves of 'Lucky Star' or 'Vogue'. As I grew older, I couldn't completely ignore the Spanish side of myself, and grew a love for Selena. I must say her death shook my little world up quite a bit. I was too young to understand why someone as good as her could pass. But her death simply pushed me more. I wanted to be what she had been. I wanted to be in front of a crowd and I wanted to sing as loud as I could and I wanted to shake the crowd if even for a few minutes. Soon enough my chance came along.

 

I began joining bands and I couldn't get enough of them. All the different types of music made me feel like a kid in a candy store. The more I tasted, the more I wanted. I began to listen to everything from Marilyn Manson to Bob Dylan... From Rock to Orchestral... From English to French. Well, you get the point. I simply love music and love performing. Whether it's in front of a crowd of cheering, moving people, or a broom and a table, I can't escape my passion.

 

Simply put, I love music. No matter where it comes from or who sings it. As long as it sounds great, I love it. I find Pride Idol as a great opportunity to continue my passion and share it with 'tout le monde'. But better yet, it's a great opportunity to represent such a great community and make people feel great through the best way possibly... through music. Besides... Music makes the world go 'round.
